TikTok back in the US after temporary suspension

TikTok back

TikTok faced a temporary suspension in the United States this Sunday, January 19, 2025, due to a law requiring it to sell its operations in the country by that date. The platform was unavailable for a few hours, affecting more than 170 million American users.

In response, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he would issue an executive order at his inauguration on Monday, January 20, to postpone the application of the law banning TikTok in the US. Trump has suggested forming a joint venture in which the United States would hold 50% ownership of the app.

Following Trump’s announcement, TikTok began restoring its services in the US, thanking the president-elect for providing clarity and assurance to internet service providers and app stores. Users reported the return of access to the platform, and celebratory videos quickly flooded the app.

In Brazil, TikTok continues to operate normally. Although the actions in the US do not directly affect Brazilian users, it is important to follow the ongoing negotiations, as future decisions could have global implications.
