Swiping activity is 20% higher on this day, and messages sent increase by the same amount.

The first Sunday of the year, known as “Dating Sunday,” is a game-changer for singles. According to Tinder’s Year in Swipe™ report, this day sees a significant spike in activity on the popular dating app.

Internal data from Tinder shows that swiping activity on Dating Sunday is 20% higher than average, and the number of messages exchanged jumps by an impressive 20%.

Singles are also making more connections, with 10% more matches compared to typical days. This surge reflects a “new year, new opportunities” mindset, as users dive into their romantic resolutions for the year ahead.

In 2025, Tinder users are expected to focus more on meaningful connections, embracing concepts like “destiny dates” and short-term relationships, often called “mini-relationships.”

To make the most of the activity surge between January 1 and February 14, Tinder recommends updating your bio, sending genuine messages, and even enlisting friends to help via the Matchmaker feature to boost your chances.

More singles are prioritizing shared values, physical attraction, and common interests when looking for a match, showing a shift toward intentional dating.

Dating Sunday is the perfect time for singles to set their intentions and kick off the year with fresh, exciting romantic experiences. It’s a chance to embrace spontaneity and start the year with an open heart and optimistic outlook.
