Pete Davidson recently shared that he tends to take on a more “feminine” role in his relationships.
During his appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show last Friday, Barrymore asked the comedian whether he thinks women should make the first move when interested in someone.
“I think I’m the girl in the relationship,” Davidson, 31, admitted. “Some guys are shy and like when a woman comes up and says, ‘Hey,’ you know?”
Barrymore, visibly surprised, asked if he prefers assertive women.
“I do,” he confirmed. “I grew up in a house full of women, so I guess I picked up more feminine traits.”
Davidson is no stranger to high-profile relationships, having dated celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and Kate Beckinsale. However, he recently told W Magazine that he doesn’t want to be defined by his dating history.
“I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be seen when it’s about movies, stand-up, charity, or business ventures,” he said in December 2024. “I don’t want to be that guy who’s just famous for who he dates. That’s not who I am.”
Davidson previously addressed this on Jon Bernthal’s Real Ones podcast, insisting that his love life isn’t as fascinating as people make it seem.
“I’m in my 20s, and I’ve dated people,” he said in March 2023. “For some reason, people find that really crazy and interesting. I don’t. I’ve been in show business for almost half my life—14 or 15 years, with 12 of those on a national TV show. And in that time, I’ve dated ten people.”
The Saturday Night Live alum also pointed out that he doesn’t even have social media to flaunt his relationships.
Davidson’s dating life first made major headlines in 2018 when he had a whirlwind romance with Ariana Grande. The two got engaged just weeks after they started dating but ended things a few months later in October of that year.
Over the next few years, he was linked to Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, and Phoebe Dynevor. However, his relationship with Kim Kardashian from 2021 to 2022 brought even more attention.
Following that, he briefly dated Emily Ratajkowski and later Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star Chase Sui Wonders. Most recently, he was in a year-long relationship with Outer Banks actress Madelyn Cline, but they called it quits in July 2024.
