Angelina Jolie recently shared a rare remark about her first marriage to Jonny Lee Miller while speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. During a conversation with film critic Leonard Maltin, clips from her film career were played, including scenes from the 1995 cyber-thriller Hackers, in which she starred alongside Miller.
Still in Touch After 25 Years
When the clip from Hackers played, Jolie, 49, reflected on her past with Miller, 52.
“I just talked to him,” she revealed. “It’s funny because I get to see my ex-husband with 2,000 people.”
Jolie further shared that she and Miller remain on good terms decades after their divorce. “I don’t really watch my own films, so I haven’t seen it since the premiere. But I do have a wonderful relationship with Jonny. We both have sons the same age, and I’m very happy about that.”
Marriage and Divorce Timeline
Jolie and Miller met on the set of Hackers and married in a small civil ceremony in 1996. They separated 18 months later and finalized their divorce in 2000.
That same year, Jolie married Pushing Tin co-star Billy Bob Thornton, a marriage that ended in 2003. She then began a relationship with Brad Pitt in 2005 after starring together in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Jolie and Pitt, famously known as “Brangelina,” married in 2014 but split in 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2024 after an eight-year legal battle.
Family and Future Possibilities
Jolie and Pitt share six children: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). Miller, on the other hand, was married to actress Michele Hicks from 2008 to 2018, and they share a son, Buster (16).
Fans may see Jolie and Miller reunite on-screen, as Hackers director Iain Softley mentioned in a 2020 interview that a sequel was “being actively considered.”
